Stay connected, do your follow ups!

Uncategorized Feb 20, 2025

Ever heard the saying, "The fortune is in the follow-up"?
Your network is your lifeline, but let’s be real, without a regular reconnection - follow-up - your network is not as strong as it could be and connections lose strength.

During a recent MasterMinds meeting, one member shared how they felt demotivated by follow-up they knew they had to do. The list was ready, but the drive was just not there.

As a group, we brainstormed alternatives that feel more natural and, guess what? They left the session inspired, armed with actionable ideas, and even launched a follow-up challenge for  the rest of us to get on track too!

Here are some practical, approachable follow-up ideas you can try today:

1. Share a resource
Instead of a generic “checking in” email, send an article, podcast, or tool relevant to your last conversation that you have come across and appreciated. It shows you’re paying attention to others and adds value.

2. Celebrate their wins
Comment on their latest achievement—a LinkedIn post, an award, or even a new launch. Genuine acknowledgment builds trust and rapport. Just make sure you don't use the generic comment LinkedIn suggests that they have received from 50 other people!

3. Ask for Input
Seek advice on something they’re knowledgeable about. It’s flattering and keeps the dialogue fresh. Formulate a genuine question you are wondering about and make sure its simple and quick for them to answer, don't overwhelm them.

4. Plan a Mini Collaboration
Suggest working together on a small project, webinar, or event. It’s a proactive way to deepen the connection and generates fantastic and exciting win-win

5. Check In Without an Agenda
A simple “How’s everything going?” or “Just thinking of you!” works wonders for maintaining warmth without pressure.

The key is to make it personal and authentic. Following the Mastermind member’s example, why not set your own follow-up challenge? Track your interactions and try one of these strategies daily for a week. Let’s see where those natural follow-ups take you!

What’s your go-to follow-up strategy?
