Are You a Good Listener? 👂🤔
Listening is a key factor in communication—and one that’s highly overlooked. 🎯
There are so many ways to listen, but you can divide them into two main categories:
✅ Listening to understand
❌ Listening to answer
Of course, we all think we do the first one. But in reality, do we? 🤷♀️
Be honest with yourself:
Somebody tells you something (it’s a deliberately vague scenario so it can apply to any situation).
Do you:
🅰️ Share an experience or thought that comes to mind from what they say?
🅱️ Ask a question for them to elaborate on what they are saying?
You may do a bit of both depending on the scenario, but try to pay attention to which one you do more instinctively. 🧐
I love this quote from the Dalai Lama:
